The Book Of Mormon tickets

Minnesota, you’re in for the best kind of surprise as The Book of Mormon, one of Broadway’s wittiest, cleverest, and most humorous musicals is arriving and performing in Minneapolis on Tuesday 10th December 2024 at the one and only Orpheum Theatre! Take part in a musical viewing that makes you laugh and love classical musicals, full of unrestrained and amusing twists.

Produced from the minds of the creators of the famous comedy TV show South Park and the play Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon features two Mormon missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they try to convert local villagers in Uganda. In similar fashion to their previous creations, the musical takes the serious subject of religion and satirizes it through both writing and music.

As Ben Brantley of The NYC Times shares, just like South Park, it is “also blasphemous, scurrilous and more foul-mouthed than David Mamet on a blue streak. But trust me when I tell you that its heart is as pure as that of a Rodgers and Hammerstein show”.

Don't miss your chance to be part of the audience and get a seat to this spectacular show, before they're all gone!

Debuting in 2011, The Book of Mormon has undoubtedly been one of the most successful Broadway musicals since its inception. Created by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, the musical is based on the Latter-day Saints (LDS) founder and prophet Joseph Smith complete with his Book of Mormon. The show was originally meant to debut off Broadway at the New York Theatre workshop after its 2008 staged reading, though this turned out to be just a prelude as its actual debut in 2011 moved to a more prominent location at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

In just a year, the Book of Mormon was already greenlit for a U.S. national tour that lasted four years, including a season in Salt Lake City, Utah! The show also carried on to be performed in several locations, with a Chicago production staged in 2012, a West End production in 2013, and Australian and Swedish productions both produced in 2017.

The unconventionality and nonconformity of this musical were key components to this success. It shares the story of Elder Kevin Price and Elder Arnold Cunningham, two LDS missionaries who aim to spread their religion in a remote village in Uganda. It is there that they contend with the indifference of the locals, as well as their contrasting methods in teaching their faith, given that Cunningham chooses to teach the villagers by tacking on fictional parts from science fiction and fantasy stories into his sermons, while Price is resolved to teach the villagers in the usual, orthodox manner. The way the Book of Mormon is shared with the audience is performed in quite an unorthodox manner as well, usually making fun of religion in its script and also injecting humor in both of its acts, and of course, let's not forget the showtunes!

For its current run, the Book of Mormon will be in Minneapolis in December at the magnificent theatre venue of Orpheum Theatre, which holds an astounding stage, sound system and acoustics, and finest facilities that is fit for this word-class show.
