Beauty and the Beast at Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis

Beauty and The Beast, the musical, started out on Broadway way back in 1994. There's no reason to try and hide this, it was forgotten by the success of the Lion King. Over the years, there have been multiple attempts to bring the story back into the premium theater scene. After an amazing run in London's West End, and a long tour of Australia, this new version is currently on a US tour. One of the stops is going to be in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Tuesday 5th August 2025.

In other iterations of the show, the set design and the tone of the costumes were both rather dark. This brought a lot of weight on The Beast character. This new version is going in a completely different direction. The focus is more on Belle, as it the story demands. This time around, the audience is greeted with thoughtfully designed sets and bright costumes that burst off the stage. When you pair that with the traditional soundtrack, you can see why both the British and Australian theater goers loved this revival. Sorry for the spoilers, but the grand entrance that Belle's character and the different members of her French village make, is the ideal counterpart to The Beast's world. What happened in both the UK and Australia was that audiences were super hooked by this point in the show. Things likely won't be any different this evening at Orpheum Theatre and the entire US tour for that matter. Gaston's introduction and musical solo tend to be loved by fans. It's truly Belle that the story revolves around though, and for this US Tour they've chosen a great actress for the role. By the end of the night, you'll be singing and dancing as you stroll out of Orpheum Theatre.
