Sarah Millican is a comedian from South Shields, England, who first made waves in the comedy world with her debut show at the 2008 Edinburg Fringe Festival. The show was titled “Sarah Millicans Not Nice” and the performance drew heavily from her recent divorce and quickly gained popularity, earning her the ‘if.comedy’ award for Best Newcomer. The show’s success helped launch her career and she then gained a loyal following from that point onward.
In 2009 Sarah Millican began previewing her second show, “Battle of the Sexes” which received very strong praise for her witty commentary on gender based dynamics. Her keen observations about behaviour based on gender earned her a lot of positive recognition, especially from The Journal, a Newcastle Newspaper.
Her third show “Chatterbox” continued her upward trajectory, even earning her a nomination for the prestigious Edinburgh comedy award. The tours live DVD, released in 2011, became a massive success, she was breaking all the sales records for a female stand-up comedian, with more than one hundred and seventy two thousand copies flying off the shelves in just one month! Sarah Millican’s television work also garnered attention, with nominations for a BAFTA entertainment performance award in both 2013 and 2014 for her show, “The Sarah Millican Television Programme”. Her appearance on a celebrity edition of Deal or no Deal saw her win over twenty four thousand dollars which she generously donated to charity. In 2019 she began uploading clips of her stand-up routines onto YouTube, where by 2022, she had amassed more than sixty five million views and over four hundred thousand subscribers. She now has well over five hundred thousand subscribers which shows how she will forever be a great comedian to watch.
