“On the 81-year-old’s latest record, Seven Psalms, he silences his surroundings. The quiet is arresting, almost uncanny—the sound of venturing into the backyard in the early morning after a long night of rain. For most of the project’s 33-minute runtime, it’s just Simon’s near-whisper and his acoustic guitar, fingerpicking his way through a spare, dewy landscape.” - Pitchfork

Calling all Paul Simon fans, his performing days are not behind him after all. Seven long years have gone by since the legendary Paul Simon last went on the road. But this spring the iconic songwriter will hit the road with his highly anticipated A Quiet Celebration Tour. The trek will see the hitmaker perform tracks from his 2023 LP, Seven Psalms.
A Quiet Celebration comes 2 years after the 83-year-old rock legend said he wouldn't be able to play live again due to severe hearing loss. In 2018, the star had his farewell tour.
The multi-city road trip will see Paul Simon take over major venues across North America, including stops in New Orleans at the Saenger Theater, LA at Disney Hall, New York City’s Beacon Theater, and Minneapolis at the stunning Orpheum Theatre, all of which were carefully selected by the songwriting legend. “Simon, who has been dealing with severe hearing loss, has chosen intimate venues with optimal acoustics for this tour,” his website says. A Quiet Celebration kickstarts in New Orleans on April 4, makes its way to the world renowned Orpheum Theatre on April 22, and wraps up on August 3 in Seattle at the Benaroya Hall.
Paul Simon first hit the international stage in the sixties as one half of the dynamic duo Simon & Garfunkel. He then went on to have an award-winning solo career that has been followed and adored by multigenerational audiences.
As a solo artist, Paul Simon has dipped his toes into a number of genres including gospel, reggae and soul. His albums Paul Simon (1972), There Goes Rhymin' Simon (1973), and Still Crazy After All These Years (1975) were incredibly popular, producing the smash hits "Mother and Child Reunion," "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard," and "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover."
The following decade, Paul Simon issued his most successful and acclaimed album, Graceland (1986), which incorporated South African influences. "You Can Call Me Al" became one of Paul Simon's most successful singles off the album. Graceland was followed by the equally stunning The Rhythm of the Saints (1990).
Fast forward to the 21st century and Paul Simon continued to record and tour. His later releases, likeYou're the One (2000), So Beautiful or So What (2011), Stranger to Stranger (2016), and his most recent album, Seven Psalms (2023), introduced him to new generations.
