The musical, Back To The Future, an adaptation that was prepared for meticulously, was conceptualized back 20 years ago, when the wife of one of the creators, Zemeckis, was said to be excited regarding the thought of reviving Back To The Future on a new platform. The musical was set to open in 2015, as an allusion to the follow-up film to Back To The Future (where the characters traveled forward in time to 2015), yet the musical was pushed back and eventually debuted at the Manchester Opera House, then after a considerable time, relocated to London’s Adelphi Theater after the COVID outbreak.

The stage adaptation, despite a small number trivial modifications, faithfully follows the science fiction journey of Marty McFly as he goes back in time to the year 1955, 30 years prior to the story’s setting. However, given the changeability of staged plays, the musical was allowed to build on the previous film's content that immensely improved the show. Both optically and audibly, the vibrant show has breathtaking implementation. The musical utilizes the most advanced equipment available in Broadway and creates a graphic viewing, with the stage design, lighting design, sound design, and backdrop effects all complementing one another quite well. The DeLorean to be specific, (which is the time-traveling car that is central to the plot) the moment the device is introduced on stage, is done so perfectly that audiences have raved about.

When it comes to backdrop editing, Back To The Future The Musical also undoubtedly deserves much love. Animation editor Finn Ross uses 3D editing in a skillful manner that each backdrop fits as an actual and real location that sets the mood of the live constructed sets effortlessly. Finn Ross even reveals that in each video backdrop “It has to look like a natural part of the musical. Oftentimes the crew did sample real-world locales, but the producers hoped to get this relative heightening of reality to match the level of energy the musical is found on.”

This approaching September’s run of the Back To The Future stage adaptation will be hosted in Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, on Friday 20th September 2024. Because of a very technology- heavy musical, it is reasonable to say that every season's chosen theater has to be able to have topnotch equipment that can be found for the show. With the best machinery from lights to sounds, as well as impeccable stage building, audiences are sure to enjoy a flawless viewing. Seats for this musical are currently available through the links that can be seen above this page.
