Bill Murray and His Blood Brothers at Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis

If you didn’t already know, Bill Murray is a jack of all trades. He’s an award-winning actor, comedian, and writer. The star is known and loved around the world for his deadpan delivery in various roles ranging from studio comedies to independent dramas. Bill Murray has starred in huge movies like Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Stripes, and Lost in Translation - just to name a few. He is also well known for his hilarious work on Saturday Night Live.

Bill Murray hasn’t only won over audiences on the silver screen but also live on stage. Over the years, he has performed legendary concerts including Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival and John Prine & The Steeldrivers at the Grand Ole Opry. During his time on Saturday Night Live, Bill Murray took on the role of Nick the Lounge Singer, entertaining guests with catchy songs like “Brandy” and most famously “Star Wars.”

This international phenomenon has also recently made an appearance at the Big Blues Bender at Westgate’s International Theater. He joined his Blood Brothers (Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia), alongside The Bender Brass horn section for an unforgettable set. “Bill Murray & his Blood Brothers tore through The Beatles' (and before that, Larry Williams’) “Slow Down,” and Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone.” The crowd joined in for the Dylan classic, shouting back, “Like a rolling stone!” as Murray delivered good ole’ rock n roll music in an energetic and inspired that was true-form Murray,” raved a happy attendee. 

In 2017, Bill Murray recorded a studio album which boasted singing and literary recitations called New Worlds. It featured classical musicians’ cellist Jan Vogler, violist Mira Wang, as well as pianist Vanessa Perez. Bill Murray and the three band members then joined forces for a global trek in 2018 which combined both music and poetry. What’s more, New Worlds: The Cradle of Civilization rolled out in theaters in major cities across North America, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas. and more.
