Stirling has never been afraid to tackle difficult subjects – her second album, the phenomenally successful “Shatter Me,” is focused around her fight against anorexia – but her third album, “Brave Enough,” focused largely on the death of her friend Jason "Gavi" Gaviati, proved even harder to write.

"It was really hard to go back and write again, since I was so full of hurt," Stirling admitted. "At first, everything was coming out with anger, fear and pain. Then I remembered he wasn't a sad person and he was full of joy… I started making myself more vulnerable. I turned it into positive energy.”
