Why does The Thorn feature dancing and acrobatic scenes? The idea of the play is to illustrate the spiritual battle that was taking place at the time of Jesus’ arrest and walk to the cross. That’s why some of these numbers feature performers with swords. Ironically enough, what you won’t find as part of The Thorn is a musical number. This doesn’t mean that music isn’t a part of the play, but the character of Jesus or any of his disciples won’t be bursting out into song. In fact, most of the dialogue takes place via a narrator. Sorry for the spoilers, but it is important for potential audience members to get a better sense of what they’re going to see on Thursday, October 10th, at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis.

This is generally a show that can be enjoyed by the entire family. Again very sorry for the spoilers but this one was a bit of a given. There is some “violence” in some of the aforementioned scenes and, of course, Jesus being lifted on the cross. This play can be a real eye-opener for younger viewers, as it illustrates the events of the cross from perhaps a more theological point of view. That doesn’t mean that all kids are going to be able to fully enjoy the show. As a parent, that discretion falls within each head of the family. What is true is that The Thorn is a well-crafted overall performance and depicts the events of the Bible in a decent manner.

The entire Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis will be open for both nights of The Thorn. There will be tickets available in the pit area next to the stage. That’s where you want to be if you want to catch glimpses of the performance that can resemble what you see in The Thorn movie. Keep in mind that some of the seating options on the side may give you an awkward view of the stage. In that case, it may be better to get tickets for the first rows of the balcony. This grants you full command of the entire show. Regardless of where you want to be, click the get tickets button today!
