Wicked at Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis

It’s no easy feat for a musical to descend upon Broadway and wins three Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards, and a Grammy Award for the original cast album, but Wicked’s done it. It is also no easy feat for a brand new musical to smash box office records around the world, while joining The Phantom of The Opera and The Lion King atop the list of productions that grossed over $1 billion, and later taking the place of the world’s second-highest selling musical, but Wicked’s done it. Undoubtedly: Wicked simply keeps defying gravity.

The truth is that Wicked has all the bells and whistles one could possibly want and expect from a top production. The enchanting story, based upon L. Frank Baum's classic novel, ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, follows the friendship of Glinda and Elphaba - who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West - before Dorothy’s arrival. With a deep exploration of improbable friendship between contrasting personalities, clashing frames of reference, and a shared love interest, and the With themes of unlikely friendships, contrasting viewpoints, love, and some subtextual societal criticisms, everybody and anybody is bound to be wowed by the smart storyline, breathtaking visual effects, well-developed characters, and, of course, composer Stephen Schwartz’s tight rhymes and beautiful melodies.

The fact is that the audience will be left totally ‘bewitched’|an entire audience will leave the Orpheum Theatre, feeling that saying that it was nice, Wicked leaves even the most vocal person at a loss for words, and the biggest critic totally ‘bewitched’.

Wicked is simply dazzling from the get-go, and you’ll fall head over heels for it!
