But that’s not good enough to escape their dire fates so Joe and Jerry dress up as women and go by the names Josephine and Daphne and join an all female band to further hide themselves from the mob. When all seems well, Joe and Jerry come across another challenge, both become obsessed with the band’s lead singer Sugar and compete for her attention. This brilliant stage adaptation of Some Like It Hot opened on Broadway in 2022. The storyline was written by multi award-winning playwright Matthew Lopez and New York Times Best selling writer Amber Ruffin. Original music and lyrics were created by Tony and Grammy Award-winning composer, Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitmann, while two time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw led the production. The musical also brought in some of the most unprecedented creative talents in the world of theater, including Tony Award winning designers Scott Pask on scenic design, Gregg Barnes on costume design, Natasha Katz on lighting design, Brian Ronan on sound design.
